Has there ever been a better-named character than Ron Burgundy? Take a moment to look at that name again.
With "Ron", right away you picture a white man with a partial-fro and mustache. And "Burgundy", for some reason or another, denotes a cocksman of impeccable taste.
Ron.
Burgundy.

Well-chosen name, yes. Too bad the film was a colossal piece of shit.
My thoughts shortly after viewing it (the first thing I watched last year):
Particularly considering what a rich source of humor the local-news business is, ANCHORMAN is astonishingly underwritten and seldom funny. Great supporting cast is wasted. Christina Applegate is the only person who seems to be taking this seriously, but she's given little to do. I hope not to see a worse film in 2005. For masochists and hardcore Will Ferrell fans only.
